The World Series of Poker (WSOP) will return to an in-person event at Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino starting Sept. 30. While many will play the live poker event in Las Vegas, there will also be an option for anyone in Nevada (and New Jersey) to play in WSOP tournaments online.
Beginning Oct. 3 at 5:30 p.m. PT, there will be a gold bracelet tournament at WSOP.com for Nevada and New Jersey players. These events will take place online every Sunday during the tournament. The final online tournaments will take place on Nov. 21.
Online poker events aren’t new for WSOP
This isn’t the first time WSOP has staged online bracelet events. Last year, the poker tournament was a hybrid of in-person and online events. While the majority of the 2020 WSOP took place online, it will be a smaller portion this year as there will be a full live event in Las Vegas.
Ty Stewart, senior vice president of the World Series of Poker at Caesars Entertainment, said:
“Our philosophy has always been to provide players the most options of any poker festival in the world. WSOP.com online bracelets have a strong track record of significant prize pools, making them a great option for players who want to multi-table while in a live tournament, or play from the convenience of their home or hotel.”
Stewart added that online poker “is an important form of tournament poker in 2021.” There will be a total of 10 gold bracelets contested on WSOP.com in Nevada and New Jersey.
While online participation is important this year, it isn’t quite new. In 2019, the WSOP held nine online bracelet events that coincided with the offline series.
In fact, there have been online WSOP bracelets since 2015. The total prize pool for online events has been $9,880,110.
WSOP 2021 online bracelet events
The WSOP 2021 online bracelet tournaments start with a doubleheader on Oct. 3. The WSOP.com event kicks off with a $5,300 No-Limit Texas Hold’em Freezeout tournament at 3:30 p.m. PT. Two hours later, the $500 buy-in “Big 500” will take place. Players will be allowed to re-enter the Big 500 up to three times.
Highlights from the 2021 WSOP.com event include the $7,777 “Lucky Sevens” High Roller and the $666 No-Limit Texas Hold’em event to be held on Halloween.
There will also be satellite events for players to earn their way into the $10,000 No-Limit Hold Em Championship (aka the Main Event). This year, there will be two “Twenty-Five Seat Scramble” events.
These mega-satellite events will feature a $215 buy-in with 25 seats or a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool on each occurrence. They will take place on Oct. 31 and Nov. 2, respectively.
WSOP.com has already awarded more than 100 tournament seats this year. WSOP.com will offer satellites for the next day’s live tournament event each day. Altogether, the tournament will also offer a guaranteed $10k seat to the Main Event every day in October.
