Las Vegas largest live poker prize pool at Wynn

The World Poker Tour (WPT) World Championship will take place at Wynn Las Vegas this winter. The event will take place between Dec. 1-20 and have poker’s first $15 million guaranteed prize pool.

This will be the largest individual live tournament guarantee in the history of poker. The WPT event will follow up Wynn’s Summer Classic, which is taking place right now.

Adam Pliska, CEO of WPT says:

“This is one of the most ambitious initiatives the World Poker Tour has undertaken in our 20-year history. We expect this to be a highly anticipated festival and are elated to be partnering with Wynn Las Vegas to bring this concept to life.”

The headline event of the multi-tournament poker festival will be the $10,400 buy-in championship tournament. This event will come to an end with the final television on broadcast TV.

There will be at least 200 qualifiers attending the WPT World Championship from playing online poker at ClubWPT. Hundreds more will be able to qualify through various live satellites.

WPT World Championship events at Wynn Las Vegas

The WPT World Championship will consist of more than a dozen tournaments. There will be three events that stand out to players:

  • The Prime Championship
  • Wynn Mystery Bounty
  • WPT World Championship

Ryan Beauregard, Executive Director of Poker Operations at Wynn Las Vegas says:

“We offer our guests the biggest and best poker experiences available, coupled with the world-class service and amenities that can only be found at Wynn Las Vegas. In partnership with WPT, we have created a festival that will be a one-of-a-kind, must-attend event for both our current and new players.”

The 2022 WPT Prime Championship will take place between Dec. 8-12. The final table of the WPT Prime Championship will take place at Esports Arena Las Vegas at Luxor. This is a more TV-friendly venue than the poker spaces at Wynn.

This could be one of the more popular, somewhat affordable, events of this poker festival with a $1,100 buy-in. There will be a $2 million guaranteed prize pool. There will be unlimited re-entries per flight.

The WPT World Championship will feature three “Day 1” flights on Dec. 12, 13, and 14. Each of the starting days will include a “freezeout” format.

In this event, players will be permitted a single entry per flight. This event will crown its champion on Dec. 20.

The WPT Championship at Wynn will come to completion on Dec. 16-19 with the $2 million guaranteed Wynn Mystery Bounty. In this event, players will have a chance to draw for cash prizes of up to $100,000 after eliminating other participants. There will be unlimited re-entries per flight.

The WPT website has more information on the event. Interested players can find more information here.

Wynn has the wealthiest customers

Hosting the WPT Championships with such a large guaranteed prize pool lines up with recent customer data that says Wynn has the wealthiest customers of all Las Vegas casino operators.

According to The Street, the household income of Wynn customers is $108,780. MGM Resorts customers are a distant second with a $94,352 household income.

This isn’t a surprise as Wynn is one of the biggest luxury casino brands in the world. The data just confirms what we see in the casinos and assume from the cost to visit Wynn casinos.

According to its first-quarter earnings report, the average daily room rate was $432 at Wynn Las Vegas. This is among the highest in Las Vegas.

For comparison, the average daily room rate at MGM Resorts casinos on the Vegas Strip during the same period was $197.

Wynn exudes luxury and has a wealthy customer base to support the opulence the casino offers at every turn.
