NV NF Draft sports betting deadline

NFL Draft betting in Nevada ends 24 hours before the event begins.

This means that all NFL Draft bets must be placed by Wednesday. Technically, sportsbooks will stop accepting wagers on the NFL Draft by 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Betting on the NFL Draft is relatively new. Nevada sportsbooks have only been offering NFL Draft betting since 2017. This 24-hour deadline for betting on the NFL Draft has been in place since day one.

NFL Draft betting in Nevada is unique

Much like all sports gambling, NFL Draft betting is different across the country. While some states allow sportsbooks to offer more wagers, there are some that don’t allow NFL Draft betting at all.

In addition to ending NFL Draft betting prior to the event, there might be another issue for those interested in betting on the event when in Las Vegas.

Nevada Gaming Control only allows sportsbooks to offer a limited number of NFL Draft bets. The NFL Draft betting menu in Nevada starts off smaller than some states and can shrink even more depending on the sportsbook operator.

All sportsbooks have different business models. Some don’t find the NFL Draft to be as profitable, so they might offer fewer betting options.

Every Nevada sportsbook operator has a different NFL Draft menu.

There may even be sportsbooks that don’t offer any NFL Draft betting at all. Visitors should be happy that Caesars/William Hill and BetMGM all have sportsbooks closest to the NFL Draft locations that offer draft betting.

Adding to the confusion is that nationwide sports betting apps like BetMGM may have different NFL Draft menus in Nevada than in other states. Since Nevada is technically outside of the network from other states, the odds may also be different.

Betting odds often change based on the amount of money wagered. Since Nevada is separate from other states, the odds for BetMGM may be different in New Jersey than in Nevada.

Reminder to sign up for sportsbooks apps inside a casino

While we’re on the topic of nationwide sports betting apps, it’s probably a good time to remind you that any new Nevada sports betting account must be set up in person at a retail sportsbook inside of a casino.

The signup process is fairly simple and usually only takes a few minutes. New users just have to bring a government-issued ID to the sportsbook and the rest is simple.

Most Las Vegas sportsbooks also require a casino rewards card. Signing up for a card could add a few minutes to the process for new visitors to Las Vegas.

Signing up for new sports betting account could take extra time this week with an influx of NFL fans in Las Vegas setting up mobile sports betting accounts for the first time.

It might make sense to place NFL Draft bets at home for some visitors. Anyone arriving on Thursday that wants a wager should already have betting slips from elsewhere.

Since the NFL Draft betting menus vary by the sportsbook, there may not be a convenient location to place the desired type of bet in Nevada.

Just to reiterate, no NFL Draft bets can take place in Nevada from the day the Draft begins on April 27. Additionally, no NFL Draft bets in Nevada will be allowed on April 28 or 29.

Nevada NFL Draft props

BetMGM is a good example of changing NFL Draft menus. Just a couple of weeks ago there were only a few betting opportunities. This week the betting menu has expanded for a couple of days.

Here’s a look at the current betting options and favorites available from this Las Vegas sportsbook.

  • 1st Overall Draft Pick: Travon Walker -240
  • 1st Quarterback Selected: Malik Willis -155
  • 1st Running Back Selected: Breece Hall -250
  • 1st Wide Receiver Selected: Garrett Wilson -200
  • 1st Cornerback Selected: Ahmad Gardner -500
  • 1st Offensive Lineman Selected: Ikem Ekwonu -200

The first pick of the NFL Draft has seen a bit of movement at BetMGM. When NFL Draft betting started, Travon Walker was +3,000 at BetMGM nationwide.

Walker is now -160 in Las Vegas to be the first player selected at the NFL Draft. He’s even a bigger favorite outside of Nevada where he’s currently -175. He’s also the biggest liability at BetMGM sportsbooks.
